In a display of sustained academic excellence, the Scholastic Bowl team captured its third consecutive State Championship this past week, solidifying its position as a premier program in the state. This "three-peat" victory marks a significant milestone for the school’s competitive academic tradition.
The team demonstrated consistent tactical precision and a broad knowledge base throughout the tournament, going undefeated across three rounds of high-level competition:
Quarterfinals: A commanding victory over Grafton High School (250–175).
Semifinals: A decisive win against Tuscarora High School (270–170).
Championship: A hard-fought, narrow victory over Jamestown (225–210) to secure the title.
Junior Brandon Hu delivered a standout performance, earning a place on the prestigious All-State Team. Hu’s scoring was a cornerstone of the team’s success; he finished as the third-highest individual scorer in the entire state tournament, a distinction reflecting his exceptional speed and depth of knowledge.
The championship journey was a collaborative effort involving a versatile roster of students who competed at various stages of the postseason:
State Championship Roster: Brandon Hu, Zephyr Heflin, Samson Ou, and Eli Simundza.
Regional Competition Roster: Brandon Hu, Rishi Nair, Milo Tao-Lin, and Eli Simundza.
The program's depth was further represented by JV members Tommy Jeffries, Matthew Cao, and Everett McGlothlin, who attended the state finals in support of the varsity squad, gaining vital experience for future seasons.
